Equine Services

Alya provides reiki, equine sports massage, gua sha, myofascial release, and postural bodywork and combines all modalities during a session to best help the horse.

Reiki

Reiki is a noninvasive energy work that allows healing energy to flow through the body. It helps with relaxation and reduces anxiety/stress, pain, and depression. The practitioner uses their hands to help deliver and guide energy through the person or animal's body, which helps improve the flow of energy to help the body heal. Alya has found that starting with reiki before the massage and bodywork allows the horse to relax more and aids in even more releasing for them.

Reiki benefits include:

- Reduces stress, tension, and anxiety

- Promotes relaxation

- Relieves depression

- Relieves fatigue

- Boosts energy and mood

- Enhances equality of life

- Relieves pain and accelerates the body's self-healing abilities

Gua Sha

A method of traditional Chinese medicine that includes lightly scraping the skin with a smooth-edged instrument to stimulate the lymphatic system, increase circulation, decrease inflammation, and ease muscular tension.

Myofascial Release

MFR is a manual therapy technique that uses pressure to find and release fascial knots, also known as trigger points. The thick, elastic connective tissue known as fascia envelops blood vessels, muscles, bones, and nerves. MFR is founded on the theory that stress, illness, injury, and improper posture can all cause the fascia to tighten and adhere to the tissues underneath. Scar tissue, or adhesions, may result from this, which may impair mobility and create discomfort. MFR is believed to help soften the fascia and break up these adhesions.

Equine Postural Bodywork

Equine postural bodywork further helps get to the root of the issues by allowing the horse to regain correct posture and proprioception. Just like people, horses compensate to help relieve pain and discomfort. Compensation can pull the horse's skeletal system out of its correct posture, which causes physical issues, such as lameness. If your horse has trouble with bending,  impulsion, leaning on the forehand, leaning on your right or left leg, moving their rib cage, moving and lifting their withers, or struggles with leads, this bodywork can help these issues. Postural reset helps improve these compensations through specific movements and exercises to help the horse free their thoracic sling (specific muscles, ligaments, and tendons) and the cervical and thoracic vertebrae juncture. Freeing the thoracic sling relieves tension, pulling, and pressure in the whole body, especially the pelvis, limbs, and back. This helps the horse become more balanced and square under saddle, relieves compensation, and prevents muscle atrophy and lameness. With time, the entire chest may tighten, shift forward, and result in bracing of the neck, back, shoulders, and elbows. After being freed, the horses wither, and back can sometimes become an inch higher.
